Logon to Quark Publishing Platform NextGen Server with Script Manager

To logon to Quark Publishing Platform NextGen Server application through Script Manager, you require an Auth Token (authentication token). To get the Auth Token:

  1. Logon to Quark Publishing Platform NextGen Server through a browser.

  2. After you are logged in, right click anywhere on the browser page and then in the context menu, select Inspect

  3. In Inspect window, go to the menu tab Application.

  4. In the left pane, select Cookies and then select a server (the URL of server) to view a list of cookies related to the server.

  5. Select the cookie pwt and copy the value against it, which is the Auth Token. 

  6. In the extracted folder, double-click on the file Start.bat to open QPP Server Log On dialog box. 

  7. In the dialog box Log On, provide the following information:

    1. Auth Token

    2. Server Name

    3. Protocol (select HTTPS) 

  8. Select Log On.

Create a Script

To create a new script:

  1. Select File > New > javascript

    Service Manager displays a new script in the Stored Scripts section and a blank script in the section Script Content

    Although you can create and modify scripts with the Script Manager application, most script writers use a separate authoring application for writing JavaScript. Consult your script authoring software documentation to learn about structuring JavaScript.
  2. After you have written the script, select File > Save.

When you save a script, Service Manager transmits the script content to Quark Publishing Platform NextGen Server to store the script at the server. Service Manager does not add a new script or an imported script to Quark Publishing Platform NextGen Server until you save it.

Import a Script

To import a script:

  1. Select File > Import

  2. In the dialog box Open, browse to the folder location Sample Scripts > javascript, which contains sample scripts that you can import to edit and then run. 

  3. Select a script and then select Open.

  4. Script Manager opens the script for you to view/edit. 

  5. Select File > Save.

Even when you do not make any edits to an imported script, you have to close the script through the File > Save function to make the script available at QPP Server.

Delete and Export a Script

To delete a script:

  1. Open the script in Service Manager.

  2. Use one of the following methods:

    1. Select File > Delete.

    2. Select the Delete icon  in the toolbar.

    3. Right click on a script name in the Stored Scripts section, and then select Delete in the context menu. 

  3. Service Manager prompts a message for you to confirm the deletion.

  4. Select OK/Delete.

To export a script: 

  1. Open the script in Service Manager.

  2. Use one of the following methods:

    1. Select File > Export.

    2. Select the Export icon  in the toolbar.

    3. Right click on a script name in the Stored Scripts section, and then select Export in the context menu. 

  3. Service Manager opens the Save dialog box. 

  4. Select a location on your local machine and then select Save.

While exporting a script, you can also change the name of the script in the Save dialog box.
