Creating and Publishing Complex Legal Content at Scale

Every year the organization is required to author and publish large amounts of complex consultation and compliance-controlled policy documentation. They also maintain a large set of legal rules, draft amendments to the rules, and continuously consolidate these amendments throughout the year.

The sheer volume and complexity of the content being managed drove the organization to consider migrating from unstructured authoring using typical office software to a structured, componentized content solution that auto-generates XML metadata for easy search and reuse.

These challenges escalated, with growing demands from the business and its stakeholders for a more collaborative approach that was better suited to their complex legal publishing requirements, that regularly involves tens of thousands of pages per year.

They decided to explore their options with GPSL, a Quark approved partner, who assessed their content publishing environment and processes for potential return on investment. GPSL recommended a more efficient web-based solution for real-time content collaboration for writers and subject-matter experts, that would be configurable to their industry-specific content requirements.

It was essential that the solution could be adopted without causing too much disruption, and be capable of managing their high volumes and frequency of document publishing. Parallel authoring of large documents was also a key factor, partitioning content into components that are assembled into controlled versions, and then reviewed for approval in an efficient joined-up process.
