Known issues in QLA 4.5

Following is a list of issues discovered in QLA 4.5.

  • Windows Vista® only: If you launch the uninstaller for QLA Server or the QLA Control Panel, an "Unidentified publisher" alert displays.
  • Windows® only: In the Add or Remove Programs dialog box (Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs), the sizes of the QLA Server and QLA Control Panel applications are listed incorrectly.
  • Mac OS® only: If you advance the system time by some amount while using an Emergency Key Launch (EKL), the remaining duration of the EKL is reduced by the same amount. For example, if you have an EKL that is valid for three days, and you advance the system time by one day, the EKL will expire in two days. To avoid this issue, quit and relaunch the application, and connect to the QLA Server.
  • Mac OS only: When QLA Server is running as a service, it is listed as "Java" in the activity monitor.
  • Windows Vista only: If you install QLA Server or QLA Control Panel on a computer that is running Windows XP, and then upgrade the operating system to Windows Vista, the QLA applications won't launch. Workaround:
    1. Create a folder named "Server" in the following directory: OS Drive\Users\Public\Documents\Quark\Quark_License_Administrator
    2. Copy the following files from the QLA Server application folder into the "Server" folder created in step 1. (Note that not all of these files may be present; simply copy the files that are there.)
        • EKL.log
        • HistChkinChkOut.log
        • HWMUsage.dat
        • LogOptions.properties
        • QLA.log
        • QLALicense.dat
        • QLANotification.properties
        • QLAServer.properties
        • Save.dat
        • TestData.properties
        • users.dat
    3. Create a folder named "Client" in the following directory: OS Drive\Users\Public\Documents\Quark\Quark_License_Administrator
    4. Copy the "QLAControlLog.properties" file from the QLA Control Panel application folder into the "Client" folder created in step 3.

  • Solaris only: The updater for the Solaris version of QLA is not included on the product CD. However, the installer for the Solaris version is included on the CD, and the Solaris updater and installer for QLA 4.5 are available from the Quark Web site.
  • Solaris only: The QLA Server 4.5 uninstaller does not delete the “_jvmServer” folder. Consequently, if you reinstall QLA Server, you cannot launch or uninstall it.
Workaround: Delete the “Quark_License_Administrator” folder from the installation path and delete the “Universal” folder from the “/InstallShield/Universal” folder." Now install QLA Server.
