Technical Documentation Solution

TECHNICAL DOCUMENTATION SOLUTION

Speed the Delivery of Technical Publications

Do you publish technical documentation — product manuals, service guides, installation instructions, maintenance manuals, or any other documentation — that's critical to the installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of complex products? If so, then Quark offers authoring and publishing software to support your technical documentation requirements.

Rising Expectation

Technical publishing has become more difficult and complex than ever. You must deal with more products, shorter product lifecycles, faster new-product introductions, worldwide distribution, rising customer expectations, and multiple media types to support: print, Web, digital devices, knowledge bases, and more.

Revolutionize Your Technical Documentation Process with DITA

To get more done with the same or even fewer resources, you need to streamline the entire authoring, review, and publishing process. That's where Quark comes in: our XML-based software helps you create reusable document components, assemble them automatically for different audiences, and publish them automatically to multiple types of media.

Many technical documentation applications use DITA, for which Quark has an out-of-the-box DITA solution, but Quark can help you work with virtually any Document Type Definition (DTD) or schema.

Quark's solution begins with Quark XML Author for Microsoft® Word, an add-in to Word tha t lets anyone easily create XML documents with no knowledge of XML and little or no training. Quark XML Author makes XML authoring easy for a wide variety of users, from subject matter experts to full-time technical authors. No other tool is easier to learn and use.

Quark offers several ways to publish your tech docs; the choice depends on the complexity of your layout needs. If you're targeting your content to technicians, then your design requirements are probably simple and you can use the optional DITA Publishing module that is an add-on to Quark XML Author, or you can use a third-party XML publishing tool. If you're targeting content to consumers, then you should consider Quark Publishing Platform, which supports rich, high-quality designs.
