Synchronize Attributes Across Multiple Chapters
For me as a book designer the best elements of QuarkXPress 9 includes the new and amazing conditional styles, which can automate the formatting for an entire book. Once styles are set-up in the new pallet, text is formatted word-by-word, line-by-line. – Mark Tennent, ITPRo
QuarkXPress® lets you combine a series of layouts in different files into a single book and synchronize attributes such as style sheets, page numbering, master pages between them.
A QuarkXPress book file contains a list of chapters, each of which corresponds to a layout in a different file.
You can set up automatic page numbering, so that if you move a chapter to a different location, the page numbering updates automatically.
You can designate one of the chapters as the master chapter, and then synchronize attributes such as the following for all chapters so that they match the master chapter:
- Style sheets
- Colors
- Hyphenation and Justification settings
- Bullet & numbering styles
- Conditional styles
You can print an entire book in one go from the Book palette. You can even use the Books feature to share the chapters of a book between multiple users, so that different users can be working on different chapters of the same book at the same time.
