Leading pharmaceutical company harnesses Quark's technology to standarise its global product range
Novo Nordisk, the world's leading manufacturer of diabetes products, integrates Quark's technology to standardise materials and packaging across its product portfolio
LONDON - 3/26/2008 -
Quark Inc. announced today that Novo Nordisk, a
leading healthcare company and a world leader in diabetes treatment has upgraded
to the latest Quark® software to standardize materials and packaging for its
global product range. The company manufactures and markets the broadest diabetes
product portfolio in the industry, including the most advanced products within
the area of insulin delivery systems. With headquarters in Denmark, Novo Nordisk
employs approximately 23,600 full-time employees in 79 countries, and markets
its products in 179 countries.
Proven technology
For the past ten years Novo Nordisk has been a
dedicated QuarkXPress® user and has continued to upgrade to each new version.
Tonny Schmidt, Regulatory Affairs IT projects at Novo Nordisk explains the
reason for this long-lasting partnership. "Quark continues to improve on
previous versions with regular updates and enhancements. In particular we have
benefited from the new measurements palette, the presence of the glyph palette,
and improved tables functionality. In addition, the recent release of Quark
XPert Tools has proved hugely popular internally, not only because of its great
value but, when combined with the features in QuarkXPress 7, it becomes an
extremely powerful design tool."
Multi-language publishing
"Our
extensive global reach - we market to almost 180 countries - means that
localization has always been a major challenge. As QuarkXPress 7 supports
Unicode® and OpenType® fonts, it enables us to substantially streamline our
multiple-language publishing, eliminate many unnecessary costs, and dramatically
improve quality and productivity. We are confident that QuarkXPress 7 will
provide us with efficient, trouble-free publishing - regardless of the
language," continued Tonny Schmidt.
QuarkXPress Server 7
"There
is a huge amount of regulation in the pharmaceutical industry, and the very
nature of our business means that accuracy and consistency are paramount. There
is simply no room for error. We developed an application using QuarkXPress
Server 7 which allows us to upload pre-defined templates containing all the
regulatory information for the labeling and instructions for our products. Our
local representatives across the world can then access the artwork for the
packaging material easily through a browser, which means they can simply proof
read and edit spelling and hyphenation in accordance with local regulations and
languages without modifying any of the key information. This guarantees complete
accuracy and consistency throughout the process of proof reading and approving
the printed packaging material. This not only gives us piece of mind but also
eliminates errors and improves efficiency."
"Quark continues to expand
its presence in a range of industry sectors outside the traditional publishing
sector. We have strong presence in a variety of verticals, particularly within
the pharmaceutical sector," commented Matthew Wallis, senior vice president,
sales Europe and Africa. "The fact that Novo Nordisk, a global player in a
highly regulated industry, chose Quark products as the core technologies to
standardise key materials for their product portfolio demonstrates a high level
of confidence in Quark products worldwide."
