Quark Adopts Microsoft® Silverlight; Adds Silverlight Exporter to Quark Labs
Microsoft Silverlight, the Cross-Browser, Cross-Platform Plug-In for Rich Interactive Applications, is Now Available for QuarkXPress 7
DENVER - 3/7/2008 -
Quark Inc. announced today that QuarkViewer XT supporting
Microsoft® Silverlight is now available for QuarkXPress 7 through Quark Labs.
QuarkViewer XT is an XTensions module that allows users to export QuarkXPress
documents into simple interactive documents. By leveraging Silverlight’s
cross-browser, cross-platform plug-in, QuarkViewer XT users are able to create
rich interactive documents for the Web directly from QuarkXPress.
“Quark’s adoption of Microsoft Silverlight is significant because it offers
rich web functionality to our Windows customers using QuarkXPress 7,” said Paul
Schmitt, senior vice president of strategic alliances and emerging technologies.
“With Silverlight it is clear that Microsoft kept the graphic designer in mind,
especially in terms of accessibility, cross-platform format standards and
functionality. We are excited to be working with Microsoft to offer our
Silverlight exporter as a cost-free download through Quark Labs.”
“Customers are looking for partner companies that can bridge the gap between
their business demands and technology capabilities,” said Allison Watson,
corporate vice president of the Worldwide Partner Sales and Marketing Group at
Microsoft Corp. “They need to trust in a company that can act as an expert
adviser for their long-term strategic technology plans. Today, Microsoft
recognizes Quark as a Certified Partner for demonstrating its expertise
providing customer satisfaction using Microsoft products and technology.”
In addition to being highly accessible for graphic designers and offering
cross-platform format standards, Microsoft Silverlight provides QuarkXPress with
the ability to encompass the key hi-fidelity rendering and programming features
from Microsoft’s WPF and XPS platforms — making it easy to combine application
logic and content presentation in a single design and development platform.
