Company Announced Long-Term Vision and Generated Momentum with Launch of Quark Dynamic Publishing Solution
DENVER - 5/23/2008 - In the first quarter of 2008 Quark announced major initiatives across its enterprise and desktop lines of business that mark significant momentum and increased market presence. Driven by the launch and availability of Quark® Dynamic Publishing Solution (DPS), an expanded leadership team and the creation of ilovedesign.com, Quark laid the foundation for success in enterprise-scale publishing as well as validated its focus on its flagship design and page layout software, QuarkXPress®.
“Throughout 2007 we carefully planned a strategic approach to the dynamic publishing market and early in 2008 launched the Quark Dynamic Publishing Solution, our dynamic publishing software that is already in early production,” said Ray Schiavone, president and CEO for Quark. “We also had several exciting developments in our desktop publishing business such as the launch of ilovedesign.com and the creation of Quark Labs.”
Quark Dynamic Publishing Solution
In the first quarter of 2008 Quark released Quark Dynamic Publishing Solution (DPS), its revolutionary enterprise-scale publishing solution that combines flexible layout with automated publishing to create and deliver accurate, relevant, and attractive communications across multiple types of media, including print, the Web, mobile and electronic devices. This expansion into dynamic publishing addresses critical pain-points faced by publishers, including increasing multi-channel output challenges.
Quark DPS is a complete solution that is currently available for any organization that relies on rich, formatted content that needs to be published efficiently and quickly in multiple places while maintaining accuracy, consistency, and brand integrity. Professional publishers, marketing communication departments and agencies, retailers and others that create marketing materials benefit from increased operational efficiencies, better customer communication and improved publishing processes.
Expanded Leadership Team
In support of Quark DPS, Quark announced in Q1 the hire of Joshua Duhl as director of enterprise product marketing. Duhl brings to Quark 20 years of marketing, market analysis, software engineering and product management experience and is responsible for guiding key aspects of marketing Quark DPS.
Ronnie Thomson also joined the company as senior vice president of engineering. In his role, Thomson is responsible for overseeing research and development, user experience, and quality assurance for Quark’s desktop and enterprise products. He brings to Quark nearly two decades of experience in research and development, software development, and engineering.
Desktop Publishing Innovation
In addition to major milestones on the enterprise business, Quark continued investing in its desktop publishing business. In Q1 Quark announced ilovedesign.com, a community-based Web site for designers. The site is developed around an interactive and accessible community concept that was inspired by a love for design. It features the work of leading industry designers David Carson, Peter Saville and Chip Kidd and gives users the opportunity to showcase their own work and become part of a design community.
In addition to showcasing the work of individual designers, www.ilovedesign.com presents short case studies about how companies from around the world are using QuarkXPress, including Chien Jaune Studio, Fabregue Imprimeur, Hebdoprint, Jahr Top Special Verlag, Novo Nordisk, Network Communications Inc., Otto, the Salvation Army, Serviceplan and more.
This quarter Quark also launched Quark Labs, a new portal featuring innovative QuarkXPress 7 XTensions® that offer QuarkXPress users and developers free access to technology previews, proofs of concept and both new and familiar XTensions.
