Meet Quark's Executives
Ray Schiavone – President and CEO
Joining in 2006, Ray has led the transformation of Quark from Desktop software to a leading player in Enterprise Digital Publishing and Client Communications solutions. Previously, Ray was President and CEO of Arbortext, Inc., where he directed the company to an industry-leading position in XML-based authoring and automated publishing software, which led to its acquisition in 2005. Prior to Arbortext, Ray was president of TPN Register LLC, a GE and Thomas Publishing joint venture.
Prior to TPN Register, Ray had a highly successful career as an executive at GE. During his 14-year tenure there, he held a variety of leadership positions throughout the United States and Europe. He was a graduate of GE's prestigious Corporate Audit Staff and Information Management Leadership programs. Ray holds a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Syracuse University. Schiavone received the Ernst & Young "Entrepreneur of the Year" Award in 2005.

Jim Haggarty – CIO
Jim Haggarty’s responsibilities include IT as well as directing the Global Customer Support Group, QuarkAlliance, and Professional Services team; managing Quark Brand Manager initiatives; and building strategic business relationships. Haggarty has more than 30 years of experience in Information Technology, Operations, and Customer Support. Throughout his career, Haggarty has introduced strategic technology plans and processes across diverse industries, built world-class infrastructures, and served as a lead change agent for corporate growth initiatives.
After beginning his career with Bayer AG in Montreal, Haggarty served as a Director of Systems Development for Domtar Inc.; CIO for Domtar Gypsum; Vice President of Information Technology at Arbortext; and has been Quark’s CIO since 2007. Haggarty earned his Bachelor of Science from Loyola College in Montreal before completing a number of technical certifications.

Kevin Mammel – CFO
Kevin Mammel is responsible for leading Quark's financial operations, including overseeing and managing all global finance, accounting, and treasury functions. Mammel has extensive experience in financial planning and analysis, accounting, investor relations, and mergers and acquisitions. Prior to joining Quark, he held senior-level positions at Skyetek Corporation and McData Corporation, where he served as vice president of finance, treasurer, controller, director of financial planning and analysis, and director of investor relations. Mammel also held leadership positions with Qwest Communications in its finance, accounting, and corporate development organizations. He earned a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Pennsylvania State University and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Colorado. Mammel is a Certified Public Accountant and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Peter Jensen – General Counsel
Peter Jensen has served as Quark's general counsel since 2006, and is responsible for all aspects of Quark's legal affairs around the world. He brings to Quark more than 20 years of broad corporate legal experience, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, and domestic and international strategic development and distribution partnerships. Before joining Quark, Jensen was the senior corporate and securities counsel for Samsonite, was vice president and general counsel for Colorado MEDtech, a publicly-held medical software and products company, and was a partner at Chrisman, Bynum & Johnson (now Faegre & Benson). Jensen earned his law degree from the University of Michigan, and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geology from The Colorado College in Colorado Springs.

Mark Benfer – Senior Vice President of Sales
Mark Benfer joined Quark as senior vice president of sales for North America in August 2007. Benfer brings more than 20 years in technology sales to his role at Quark, including global experience in building and managing sales teams with market-leading companies. Benfer is responsible for leading the company's global direct and channel sales activities and driving key growth initiatives in the desktop and enterprise markets.
Most recently Benfer served as senior vice president of worldwide sales for HealthMedia. Previous positions included vice president of worldwide sales at Arbortext and a 17-year tenure with GE and GE-owned subsidiaries.
Benfer earned a Bachelor of Commerce from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Canada, and a Masters of Business Administration from Oxford Brookes University in Hedington, England.

Claire Hancock — Vice President of Human Resources
Claire Hancock is responsible for leading Quark’s global human resources programs and operations. Hancock has served as Quark’s vice president of human resources since 2008. She brings to Quark 20+ years of extensive human resources experience in organizational development, talent acquisition, strategic alignment and the design of human resources operations and programs. Prior to joining Quark, she held the position of vice president of operations for Promotional Products Association International with management responsibility for the finance, information technology, and human resources organizations. She has held senior-level positions with TPN Register, a GE and Thomas Publishing joint venture and Coopers & Lybrand (now Price Waterhouse Coopers).
Claire holds a Masters in General Administration and Human Resources Management from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor of Science from Towson State University. She is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR).

Dave White — Chief Technology Officer
Dave White is responsible for leading Quark’s product teams and strategy. He works with Quark’s strategic partners on product integration, manages the technical aspects of mergers and acquisitions, and is responsible for Quark’s OEM relationships. Dave joined Quark in November 2008 and has two decades of experience in the publishing and content management industry. Prior to joining Quark, White was vice president of product strategy at PTC and Arbortext where he led key initiatives for executing on emerging technologies, strategic partnerships, and acquisitions. He has also held roles in sales, product management, engineering, and business development. With extensive knowledge of a broad range of science and technology, White has helped define XML standards and spoken at a variety of publishing conferences. White graduated from Purdue University with a degree in electrical engineering technology.

Gavin Drake – Vice President of Marketing
As vice president of marketing, Gavin Drake is responsible for Quark's integrated marketing, branding, corporate communications and product marketing worldwide. He leads the company's positioning and branding, public relations, analyst relations and social media as well as driving marketing campaigns and field marketing programs across all market segments to maximize customer experience and engagement with Quark.
With 20+ years experience high-tech B2B marketing experience, Drake has worked with customers, media, channel partners and technology vendors driving adoption of new technology. He has served as a judge for various marketing and creative awards and is a regular speaker at industry events. Prior to Quark, Drake served in international marketing positions with a number of software companies marketing content management, XML and database publishing technology.
Drake earned his Bachelor of Science with Honors degree in Physics and Business Studies from De Montfort University in the UK, and is currently a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, having attained their Professional Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing.
